Pros

Incredible resources - AWS is all yours to play with, budgets I previously thought were huge are not worth a blink - with justification. Internal tooling is way ahead of any other company I've worked for.

Cons

Work life balance - this is probably actually more my fault. I work too hard because I want to create the best product, and they won't get in the way of it. If you want to burn yourself out, they'll watch you do it in spectacular fashion.

Pros

Amazon is the ideal place for workaholics. You will get great work, with significant impact. All teams are small, and every employee has a high level of responsibility (compared to other companies of this size.) You will also have great careers growth opportunities if you can keep up the pace. All in all, it's a good place for ambitious (usually young) people to start their careers.

Cons

You will always have aggressive targets, and relatively little support system. You will have to figure out everything on your own, even when it relates to components made by other teams in the company. When facing tough bugs, you'll find yourself spending late nights in the office, waiting for responses from people working in the US.

Pros

- Great pay and benefits, generally well above the market level - You can learn a lot - People are very friendly and cheerful, makes a good atmosphere

Cons

You have to stand for yourself and be very professional. Sometimes deadlines might be too harsh, or unfair things might happen. The key to solving all of these is communication. Don't promise something unless you are 100% sure you can deliver. Also, if you get into arguments with people you can have a though time. The key is, again, communication. If you don't follow this, a lot of problems can happen. Most of the drawbacks that you will hear about Amazon are totally solvable. It also depends a lot on the individual teams
