Pros

Super awesome core culture, smart people all around to talk to, access to pretty much all tech content/talks/knowledge (open culture)

Cons

Bad middle level managers with less technical knowledge, Ex-program managers now turning into senior managers without any vision. Basically culture is getting polluted.

Pros

Working in IT/AWS. Everything revolving around operations and being technical, creating automation, tools, and tools for tools, and yet more scripts and tools, even for very simple tasks. Also you're told you can do anything you want, but if you don't do well enough with tickets and on-call, your employment may be in danger.

Cons

Often people try to solve non-technical problems by engineering themselves out of them (not an exact situation, but similar to: let's create a tool so we don't have to talk to each other too much). Don't see people smiling in the office very often. Culture a bit dull and disappointing, emphasis on working hard. People get promoted for working hard and peer feedback instead of competencies, which leads to frustration of those competent. Not much teamwork, great focus on individual contributions, which leads to unhealthy competition. If someone is frustrating others but delivers results, management usually won't help the situation with others.

Pros

Money - experience means it's easier to find other work when you eventually leave.

Cons

It's well known Amazon is by far the worst of all the big four. Brutal aggressive work environment. Most of the work is not that interesting. Expect to be treated like a cog in a big machine. Most of the experience is Amazon specific and not transferable. The only people who stay longer than 2 years stay for the stock. If you want to be treated well and have a good work life balance, don't work for Amazon.
