Unnecessarily stressful at times, scrappy architecture in pockets and highly siloed at parts

Pros

You get a chance to made a difference to millions of customers every day and deliver massive and exciting projects. Everyone is super smart and passionate. You get to learn a lot.

Cons

Too much top-down decisions and you don't get much freedom in terms of deciding what your team builds. The so-called "Amazon tax" (bureaucracy, policies, "mechanisms") eats up most of your time and you have to accept the fact that every day you will feel like you have not completed the things that you wanted to or were supposed to do. End result - burnout, depression, insomnia and constant stress.
