I wish that I had joined years ago
Pros
I've been at Amazon Web Services for just over a month now, and I am already certain that this has been my best career move to date. Everyone that I have worked with or spoken to so far is brilliant, wants to succeed personally, as a team, and as a company. The Leadership Principles really are a big part of everyday life & conversation at Amazon, and everything stems from customer obsession. Decisions are data driven, and the writing culture is legit. Amazon is the dream for self-starters that want to keep growing.
Cons
- You will be "drinking from the fire hose" for a while, as there is so much to learn about the culture, processes & procedures, et cetera, so if you do not have a voracious appetite for learning new things, Amazon isn't for you. - Also, job descriptions at AWS can change rapidly as new products & services are being developed all of the time, existing products & services are constantly being iterated upon, and new opportunities are popping up. If you prefer to do the same thing day in & day out, Amazon isn't for you.
