Pros

1. As an external hire (later internally transitioning to a PM role), pay is very good. 2. There are lots of opportunities for lateral transitioning to various roles. I received my first opportunity in program management within Amazon. 3. I had a great experience meeting and working with very capable and qualified counterparts and direct reports. 4. Benefits are ok (not the best, but certainly not the worst). 5. PTO accrual was decent, and my role afforded me good flexibility in using my vacation time and personal time off. 6. The work was challenging (which I like) and there were lots to learn. I was able to realize the direct impact of my team's work.

Cons

1. [In the facilities] MICROMANAGEMENT. 2. DE&I initiatives in some business segments were all fluff. Amazon is not a company that genuinely supports and demonstrates DE&I. 3. In my particular business segment (OB Transportation), misogyny, prejudice (possible racism?), and disrespect was rampant. 4. My direct manager was in some kind of sick silent competition with me and weaponized Focus (PIP) to force me out. He could not stand women in management, much less a Black woman with knowledge and capability. 5. Several of the managers (L6 and above) are stuck in middle/high school or were picked last for kick ball, and it shows. Continuous power tripping, siloing of information, intentional exclusion, rude and hateful mannerisms, and blatant unprofessionalism. Just DISGUSTING. 6. Disorganization. Truckloads of wasted money and resources due to poor processes. Ugh, where do I start?? 7. Horrible culture (especially office culture). 8. Poor senior management decisions (e.g., return to office, return to hub, fabricated sustainability reporting, atrocious working conditions for lower-level employees, etc. need I say more?) 9. There's so much more. There's not enough space in this box or time in the day.
