Pros

I love the freedom to be myself at work, to be friendly and socialize with coworkers, to bring my dog with me and see how excited he gets to see all my coworkers. I love the level of intelligence and attention to detail my coworkers have, they really encourage me to grow and expand my skill set. I love the diversity of our hires. I work with people of all ethnicities from the entire globe and it makes work so much more interesting and rich. I love how laid back Amazonians are. There usually isn't a ton of ego or competitiveness between teams, people are very cooperative and open. I love that Amazon encourages our employees to volunteer and contribute to our community, even if the media would have you believe otherwise. I love that I get to work from home in order to maintain my work life balance. I love the protection and support I feel from HR. I love traveling and meeting new people all over the world. I love working for Amazon Web Services.

Cons

You get a lot of flack from the public working for Amazon. There are a lot of assumptions and misconceptions about our work environment or what our company values are. If you're brave enough to set an example and speak out about what working for Amazon is truly like, it is definitely worth it.

Pros

Amazon has mechanisms that allow employees to grow in their roles and consider new roles outside of the original area of ownership as they develop their career. Ton of internal learning resources, mentoring program, great people and culture.

Cons

Amazon has high standards and you have to keep up if you want to succeed. You can easily lose your work/life balance but it's really up to you how you manage it.
