Pros

Pay is decent for the area Smart people Interesting work

Cons

Day 2 attitudes abound in upper management, meaning there are no new ideas. A lot of talk lately about shareholder value which is the antithesis of a consumer focused company. Added a leadership principal to be the worlds best employer and doesn't even attempt to honor that from a safety or world life balance perspective. Huge pay discrepancies between tenured staff and new hires driving animosity among teams.

Pros

Managers are very nice. Colleages are smart. Comp package is decent. Work-life balance is taken seriously. Offices are cool and dog friendly, and there are several social happenings if you aree into those.

Cons

Salary isnt as good as I’d like. They cheap out on snacks, swag and other perks that are pretty much table stakes at big tech companies. Working in global teams means there are some odd hour meetings (but you can take that time back with no questions asked). The amazon lingo is a bit cultish and the doc writing and review process is maddening. They are trying to force people back to the office which isnt cool.

Pros

Amazon has a great, inclusive culture. There are much more women in leadership position as in any of the previous companies I worked before. Also, people with different nationalities come together in teams and are included in the teams. Amazon values all its enployees, independent of their level of experience. You get lots of growth opportunities and you can learn so much each year. Amazon chooses its employees to form perdormance teams, which means that you work with professionals ang get to learn a lot from each other.

Cons

The work is very intensive, lots of projects, high workload. Also, you are always pushed to give even more than your best.
