Pros

innovation, lots of opportunities to play with the latest technologies smart people, working for Amazon has been an incredible learning experience.

Cons

Very difficult to get promoted. Every promotion is basically a battle initiated by the employee. Never recognized from management. Worked in different departments , orgs and even countries and the experience has been always the same. I have always had to threaten to leave to be promoted. Salaries not competitive.

Pros

Learn how a very large web company works. Can get involved in the cutting edge of data center design.

Cons

Very high turnover and general dissatisfaction of employees with how the company treats them. Very little formal training and oversight. There will always be more work to do; you could work 60 or 80 hours per week, or more. Some people have done >100 hours for more than one consecutive week, and Amazon tries to push you to do so. Just hope that you are non-exempt!
