Pros

Small teams encourage start-up-like mentality and working environment. Compensation is top-notch. All teams are limited to some 8-9 people, which allows each person to assume a comprehensive role covering all aspects of software development. The job also gives very interesting technical challenges.

Cons

Lack of benefits, health plan is lacking, company is "cheap". Company seems unwilling to spend on equipment, perks, and other niceties to improve productivity.

Pros

good benefits, if you have a team of nice people and they have enthusiasm you can enjoy your job, Amazon is the leader on the retail market, launching new products to the right time in the US

Cons

first of all, the market in the US comes first, all others have to wait, not a really good communication from the high/upper level management to low level employees which is very frustrating, employee morale is going up and down - depends on how fair they are with recognitions and compensations, career opportunities are limited, unfortunately not all managers/employees are qualified and don't know how to socialise with their employees/colleagues, they should move to an other city, the place is not the best

Pros

The money. They pay you a lot to work a hell of a lot. No work / life balance so kiss that goodbye. The benefits are okay, but honestly, this is probably something you won't even have time to enjoy depending on which department you work for. If you are an IT professional, run don't walk away from this company. They work their IT employees extra hard and not much appreciation is awarded. Other than that, there are SMALL perks by working for Amazon. Visiting book authors will stop by and employees get a chance to meet them and hear them talk in a conference room. That's about it!

Cons

The management. Ever been yelled at by Jeff Bezos in a meeting? Then you haven't really experienced Amazon. :) I would always hear rumors about the executives coming back from meetings either with their tails between their legs, or just coming back red in the face having just been screamed at by Mr. Bezos. I think the day this man decides to stop micromanaging the management and let them take the reins and do their jobs will be a much happier time for Amazon employees as a whole. It all comes straight from the top and trickles down to the employees.
