Pros

Can have lots of autonomy, salary and benefits, great on your resume

Cons

A lot of inexperienced people in management positions. Cronyism. A lot of "ism" violations. Managers can easily make up reasons to get rid of you, despite your great work, if they don't like you, and not much you can do about it.

Pros

- Work life balance (it's team dependent, so your mileage may vary) - Learning opportunity - Lateral movement (It's super common and extremely easy to move to different team or try for a new role)

Cons

- Culture may be org/team specific - Pay structure is convoluted and makes it very hard for people to benchmark against peers - Gets bureaucratic sometimes. To get something done, you need tons of approvals -
