Pros

If you land a good team, you'll be paid too much to do nothing but it is extremely rare.

Cons

Most teams are toxic and expect you to work 9a-9p minimum, not including calls you take in different time zones. I worked 80-90hr weeks my first 2 years. Management doesn't care about tech debt. During covid days they gave out promos like candy. Post covid days, its heavy politics to get promoted no matter if you are rated the best performant engineer. Even with Amazon on your resume, you're not gonna get a call back from other companies no matter what you've done. Unless you're a senior SDE.
