Pros

- Stable Payroll; - Company has great perspective; - Stock keep growing; - You will work with the biggest companies as your customers; - Free access to some of learning resources(acloudguru, linux academy, etc..); - Phone compensation up to 50$ / month; - Uber/Lyft compensation up to 170$ / month;

Cons

- Noisy oncall; - Promotion process in weird. It doesn't matter what you did and how, but how many people you showed your face; - Internal tools are terrible. You will have to rely on not reliable toolbox. 99% Availability for internal services? Not even close; - Managers and engineers all tries to push new service to get promotion. As result a lot of services doing basically the same thing and lack of integration between them; - Leadership principles is something works only for interviews and promotion process. Once you join you will not see any of these in your collegues; People are too tied doing firefighing every day.

Pros

1. Good pay at higher levels (SDE 3+) 2. Excellent range of opportunities - work from UI to the largest web services infrastructure in the world to machine learning to consumer products (Kindle).. If you get bored of one team, moving to another is straightforward. 3. High achievers are rewarded well 4. Super focused and competent senior management

Cons

1. The frugality (cheapness) gets old after a while. 2. Growing as an individual contributor after the SDE 2 level is made ridiculously tough and is completely team dependent; an SDE 2-3 promotion in a technically strong team might take years (or never happen) with the same promotion take a few months in some other teams 3. Uneven quality across groups and teams - there needs to be a consistent hiring bar. 4. Employees are treated largely as cogs. The pager hell is real and can be bad depending on the team.
