Pros

Fun to work on the bleeding edge of numerous technologies. Everything is a stress test. Innovation is constantly required.

Cons

It’s a big ship, infrastructure can be stifling and information can be widely spread out and hard to find. Procedures and processes are perpetually obsolete. Promotion process is a bit of a black box, obscure and hard to penetrate.

Pros

I was a little worried about joining Amazon because I've read about the horror stories and reputation online. I have not had no issues with this type of culture in my personal experience so far. For me, it has been a great place to learn and grow my career, speaking from the perspective of an early-career engineer. Some pros: * There's many new developments and projects in my organization, it does not feel stagnant. * I get to use the latest technologies and best practices. * I get a lot of support for career development when I ask for it. * Intelligent and motivated coworkers, inclusive environment. Neither pro nor con: * A big emphasis on writing.

Cons

* You have to be proactive and sometimes persistent with getting the help you need from more more senior engineers.
