Pros

AWS is a high paced environment, with a lot of focus on operational excellence. There is excellent tooling that has been built over time to help monitor and alert on system health. AWS provides a great opportunity to learn how to run large distributed systems systems at a global scale.

Cons

The firs rung of promotion from L4 to L5 is farily straightforward, though a bit involved with the 6-pager required to get promo approvals. Anything higher is a lot more work where you are expected to put in 200% to get to the next level. There is also an aspect of luck and politics to get high in levels.
