Pros

- Surrounded by highly intelligent and motivated people. - Market leading product - There is a big focus on personal development - Earning potential very good - The leadership is abrasive but in their own way they do care about developing people

Cons

- AppD have a set, very specific sales process and way of doing things. It is enforced by a set, very specific, abrasive style of management. It can feel a little robotic. Many swear by the process and it clearly has transformed a certain type of person for the better. For others it’s stifling, limiting and doesn’t work at all. You’ve got to think very carefully about what type of working / management style you are looking for and will thrive under before joining. It has nothing to do with how driven, ambitious or smart you are, rather the question you should ask yourself is how do you like to learn? - The sales team in particular is in a state of perma-stress. - The EMEA organisation is a cult, cast in the personal image of the GM - people swear an unquestioning loyalty and obedience regardless of what goes on. - Onboarding is a mess

Pros

None - this is the worst sales job

Cons

Extreme micro management and process / data entry. If you’re an above average sales person, you will hate working here. There is no work/life balance... you’ll be expected to work on the weekends (data entry and receive multiple emails with actions on a Sunday as an example) Managers manage down and have no idea how to manage up. Monkeys (managers) and robots (salespeople). Product is not easy to sell, it’s hard to implement and very expensive, so if customers don’t have a consistent or huge application issue that impacts their business, they will not buy. This is a luck of the draw type of situation. Your territory may not have orgs with perceived big application issues and you will make no money while being micromanaged. Very stressful job Cisco has taken over comp plans, so much harder to make money and they are over hiring so smaller territories. The wave has crashed

We’re sincerely sorry about your experience at AppDynamics. We strive to provide a positive workplace culture for all, but it sounds like that wasn’t your experience. Although the majority of feedback from our employees is very positive, it seems like it wasn’t the right culture fit for you. Your feedback will be sent to senior management, as we're always looking for ways to be better. Wishing you the best in your future endeavors.
