Pros

- In the City - Free snacks - Benefits are good - A lot of free time to do whatever you want because you are at Cisco AppD

Cons

- Implementing an Indian Oracle Environment - No empowerment - Only Yes Man Culture and those are the people that get promoted - Number of key resources leaving engineering and can’t hire new people

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are focusing on diversity and inclusion in our efforts to Attract, Hire and Select the best people. Additionally, we have implemented Leadership Training across the company to make sure that we promote an more open feedback culture. As Cisco’s tip of the spear, we are engaging in new technology areas and will continue to lead the way for Cisco to become a SaaS company. There is a lot of exciting and challenging work ahead!

Managers With No Experience

Pros

It's a mirage. The only pro is that some of the people are genuinely nice and helpful and the office is great.

Cons

Only at AppDynamics will a manager with absolutely NO management experience and multiple HR complaints against him, get promoted to Director. The management system at AppDynamics is a joke and plays basically on favoritism. They promote people to managers that have no business managing people and have absolutely no experience. If you want to grow in your role, you are roadblocked because god forbid you have more experience or certifications than your manager. They are not interested in letting people take initiatives or come up with ideas and they are constantly shutting down any conversation as a "miscommunication in role". Managers are clueless and like to push their weight around based on their title and nothing else. Just because you were a good analyst and amazing at Salesforce doesn't mean you should have a team under you. The fact that someone with HR complaints against him and no management experience got promoted to Director says a lot about the company.

Thank you for your feedback and we sincerely apologize for your experience at AppDynamics. The rapid growth of AppD did afford the opportunity to a lot of folks to step into first time management opportunities. We are happy to share that our L&D team has started rolling out training for new managers, as well as manager enablement trainings for existing managers, that we believe will continue to make AppD better at all levels! To that endeavor, we hope to become a better company tomorrow than we are today!

Pros

Since the day I started with the company (3 years ago now), it's never been in question that my leadership really cared about my success. This came in forms of rewarding me when I accomplished something great, encouraging me when I came up with an idea to better the business, helping me to think on a deeper level about the business and success, and also being transparent when I may be completely failing, but providing great leadership to help get me back on track. AppDynamics is a company about developing their employees, rather than hiring people to be just a part of the working mill. The vision of AppDynamics as well as the product really helps set this company up for success. There are very few bumps in the road that this company cannot overcome when it comes to the industry and their customer success. This company truly cares about employees, customers, and retentions first and foremost over corporate politics and their business. They know that with those things mastered, everything else falls into place.

Cons

Any position you take on at AppDynamics, especially within EMEA, is not for the faint of heart. Be ready to work extremely hard, potentially a lot of hours, and have the most rewarding outcomes come from it. This could be seen as a pro and a con, depending on your mentality and work ethic. Office location (Bracknell) is not ideal, but its manageable. Don't let this be the reason you pass up a great opportunity! Autonomy of the EMEA business is getting better however there's still a lot of things that are managed out of San Francisco which can slow down the EMEA business.
