      Really good company but.....

      Pros

      We probably have one of the best tech products on offer from the Valley and certainly the best in the APM space. If you want to sell to Enterprises with amazing technology that actually works then this is the place for you. The new CEO is very intelligent and his direct reports across Field Ops, Legal, and Product are about as smart as they come. Many of the people here are great to work with and are very friendly.

      Cons

      It's not fair to generalize about an entire company like other posts do but there are a few bad apples here that will ruin the bunch if we aren't careful. AppDynamics is basically BMC with a different logo. The VP management style is .... well lets say 'abrasive'. If you don't mind being pushed around then you will have no problem (they think it's leadership). The top execs preach values, which everyone believes in, yet on the ground you operate in a fiefdom which is a world unto itself. You absolutely have to pledge allegiance to the process and if you don't kiss the ring it's not pleasant. At this regional level it's political and they will kick you to the curb very quickly no matter who you are. HR policy is different to what really happens. Of course there is an open door policy; so long as you bow before you enter.

      Thank you for your thorough response! Management styles vary from team to team, and while we cannot always assure group cohesiveness, our talent team tries very hard to screen for team fit. Our multiple rounds of interviews and hiring manager screenings not only assesses technical skills, but also screens for personality to see how well a candidate would work with the existing team. We're sorry to hear that you feel this way about your current leadership and hope that you are able to find a common ground with your manager to comfortably express your concerns.

      Great product, poor managment

      Pros

      Powerful, great product. Appdynamics is a leader in the APM space. From a product standpoint, they have a bright future.

      Cons

      - Lots of politics and nepotism from sr. management on up. - Management style is abusive. - Bosses, not leaders. - Zero representation and communication from the executive team.

We have in place an annual performance review where you can critique your manager and receive feedback from them as well. We also have an open door policy where you are more than welcome to set up 1:1 with your managers to discuss your opinions and concerns. Please take advantage of this system as we want our employees to feel comfortable and happy in our workplace!

As the company expands, there are bound to be inevitable growing pains, and one of them is communication. We are trying very hard to streamline our internal communication across teams and continents so we keep everyone in the loop!
