Great place for a Sales Career

Leadership is amazing and transparent from the top down at Cisco During COVID Chuck Robbins was one of the most empathetic and strategic leaders I've ever seen. Great training if you're new to sales, learn to use MEDDPIC, Mandel, etc. Diversity and inclusion groups of all types exist and are baked into both the AppDynamics and Cisco cultures

Cons

I have only great things to say, this is a great place for a sales career. The only reason I left, was to try the startup equity lifestyle. I'll probably find myself back at Cisco one day.

Pros

Growing and expanding - can't say enough good things about AppDynamics. It was acquired years before I got there by Cisco Systems and Cisco didn't meddle with the culture. You coworkers genuinely care and help you. APM (Software that monitors Software) is a huge growth market and creates a high revenue position and this is Cisco's engine to bridge the gap from being a hardware focused company into being a SaaS company (at least one of them). I left because I was in the wrong role - very transactional. I traded great work-life balance for a new role that was more demanding -but that is what I wanted to advance my career. I'd recommend AppD to anybody.

Cons

There are definitely silos, and spheres of influence but the culture makes it easy to bridge. It's more not knowing who or what is responsible for what during ramp up that is the issue. But again, it's a helpful culture so if you ask enough people you get the answer. Covid and working remote didn't help it may be different not the office is back up.

Being part of a small agile company yet part of a large giant called Cisco Sales are surrounded with supporting teams that are aligned to the same target Great place to learn a world class sales process Has become more customer centric than before and shed away the reputation of start-ups approach of hit and run.

Cons

A bit behind on the product roadmap Cisco can at times be a bit of a distraction
