Pros
The Appirio brand has been fully retired. The integration of Appirio's Salesforce consultancy into Wipro that began with the acquisition in 2016 is complete as of April 2021. I recommend anyone looking into Appirio to check out the Wipro reviews instead. Wipro has transitioned the consultancy from Appirio's high-value and high-margin Go To Market strategy to Application Managed Services (AMS). While there are some projects that retain the "Appirio Way" of strategy, design and agile implementation, the bulk of the projects and the emphasis is around low-cost managed services using off-shore resources. To this end, management roles which were staffed on-shore have been transitioned to India whenever an on-shore manager leaves Wipro. The pros of working for the Wipro Salesforce Practice are: - flexible work hours - good bonus structure - reimbursement of certification exams - very respectful culture. Management encourages people to speak up and contribute - Wipro's founding family is one of the largest philanthropies in the world. They contribute billions to worthwhile charities.
Cons
- Very little onboarding process. Consultants are expected to be billing on a project on their first day of hire. The pressure to bill is due to the emphasis from management to minimize bench time -- to the detriment of training. It is common that a new consultant is dropped into a project without any training or background and expected to perform. - Below average compensation. Other firms offering more for the same roles - As revenue plummets, middle management is instituting policies to improve the numbers. Many of these (canceling vacations, working weekends) are putting stress on employees. I do not fault middle management for taking these measures as many policies are dictated by senior management and cannot be overridden at a local level. - Lack of diversity. For example, the number of women in leadership roles is much less than at other consultancies - Poor processes. A new ERP system should improve this, but the tendency from management is to say Yes to everything but not follow through.
