Great coworkers but upper management is bad
Pros
You work within a great multicultural team and you make great friends. They have their own health department with doctors and dentists etc, so when something happens you can go there instead of the overcrowded hospitals. Once in 2 years you get a discount to buy Apple products. After 3 months, you get the opportunity to work from home Monday and Friday.
Cons
The pay is very low and Cork where Apple is, has very high living costs. If you don't live extremely simple and have a roommate you wont save anything. Incredibly repetitive work every day that gets boring very fast. They monitor you on mouse movement every day in the program you use and you have to complete a certain amount of hours per day otherwise you get in trouble. They also monitor every other aspect of your work: how many mistakes you make, how long you take to complete each task, how well you completed each task, how you compare to your coworkers etc. This all leads to a lot of extra stress. Some of the direct managers don't have any experience with what its like doing the tasks that they oversee. Some also don't have good managing experience so if you're unlucky you end up with one of them and they can be very bad. They tell you it is easy to move up within the company if you work there for a year, but the rest of the company looks down on this position and wont hire you. Almost none of my coworkers ever moved to a better position in a different department. One of them was laughed at when interviewed at a different department. You're expendable, and will be replaced very quickly because its Apple and people want to work for the company.
