Pros

You work within a great multicultural team and you make great friends. They have their own health department with doctors and dentists etc, so when something happens you can go there instead of the overcrowded hospitals. Once in 2 years you get a discount to buy Apple products. After 3 months, you get the opportunity to work from home Monday and Friday.

Cons

The pay is very low and Cork where Apple is, has very high living costs. If you don't live extremely simple and have a roommate you wont save anything. Incredibly repetitive work every day that gets boring very fast. They monitor you on mouse movement every day in the program you use and you have to complete a certain amount of hours per day otherwise you get in trouble. They also monitor every other aspect of your work: how many mistakes you make, how long you take to complete each task, how well you completed each task, how you compare to your coworkers etc. This all leads to a lot of extra stress. Some of the direct managers don't have any experience with what its like doing the tasks that they oversee. Some also don't have good managing experience so if you're unlucky you end up with one of them and they can be very bad. They tell you it is easy to move up within the company if you work there for a year, but the rest of the company looks down on this position and wont hire you. Almost none of my coworkers ever moved to a better position in a different department. One of them was laughed at when interviewed at a different department. You're expendable, and will be replaced very quickly because its Apple and people want to work for the company.

Pros

- Good benefits that compensate somewhat for the low pay.

Cons

- Culture where negative feedback and asserting dominance over more junior colleagues is prevalent - It's normal for senior colleagues to criticise others condescendingly over minor things in front of customers. One time when this happened to me, the customer told me afterwards: "I don't like how that man spoke to you. Is that normal here to speak so harshly? I'm so sorry that you have to deal with that. It makes me very uncomfortable." - I was followed into the toilet by a colleague to check on where I was because I dared to take a quick toilet break. Creepy and controlling. - Store manager ignores everyone except senior team leads. The only time you'll hear from him is when he has negative feedback to share. You won't hear any positives, those are not considered important to mention. - Break room consists of a couple of tables and chairs in the cellar storage space among the retail goods. It's so depressing that it's hard to unwind and people eat their lunch in silence. Very different from other companies I've worked at where we'd have a proper cheerful space where colleagues would chat and laugh.

Corporate Propaganda

Pros

You get paid slightly above the other tech companies

Cons

Quality of benefits keeps rolling down hill. You get hired for a position and you WILL be working more than one. Corporate propaganda to make you feel like you are never enough and the psycho mumbling that everyone is included. From area managers and up, it gets very white. Although you receive stock, it’s vested so if you leave, you loose the money that was already earned by you. All this can seem petty or irrelevant. I don’t know and I don’t care. The straw that broke the camels back for me was the email Tim Cook sent to all Apple proudly announcing his unwavering support for an entity who’s been found guilty of committing genocide. Sad.
