Stifling environment with outdated design standards
Pros
offices are nice, lots of plants, decent espresso machines (when they're operational), pay was good and stock grant was really high but I hear it's gone down a lot in the past few years
Cons
legit I did not see any high bar for craft and quality, and really low taste from my managers and leadership. this place is so behind, still red-lining, designs are outdated by the time we launch, managers are terrible designers themselves and give awful feedback, just want to feel important and support their egos... for a company that's supposed to be design focused, it's clearly a lie and you realize once you're on the inside. i had awful designers on my team, but they were really good at smiling and saying "okay, i'll do whatever you say, thanks so much," and we keep them. if you push back on your managers, you're screwed. sad that spending time here actually sets you back. people stay at apple because after 10 years there, you're not hireable anywhere else because you're so far behind process wise, craft wise, taste wise... people stay because they're not employable anywhere else unless you leave after ~4 years. vest your stock and get the hell out if you want to ever have a real career, anything past 5 years, you're a dinosaur and stuck forever. you're told that if you want to move up in the company, you do "extra." whatever that means. Never saw anyone get a promotion. Took my boss 12 years to get his first promo. also, nobody has a real personality? it's really weird, everyone seems like they're bringing a dead soul to work. literally the least exciting place I've ever worked. 15+ years in tech
