Pros

Competitive pay Flexible benefits Good facilities, e.g. office, gym, coffee Intelligent and thoughtful peers/colleagues If manager is good then employee would be well-looked after and thrive, but this is 75% not the case

Cons

Culture of intimidation, bullying and fear the closer the role is to the Senior Executive Team (SET) Excessive hours Poor middle management, Vice Presidents (VPs) and Senior VPs, who do not know how to motivate people PowerPoint driven culture - not on a slide? no interest = 100s of slides In-fighting and politics require excessive stakeholder management and slows down internal communication Too many strong personalities dominating senior positions, so people are scared to speak up

Pros

There are opportunities for learning and collaboration, along with favorable insurance and leave policies.

Cons

The functional support department in the Chennai office is plagued by a toxic culture of groupism, largely driven by certain mid-level managers (notably Skumar and his assistant Mkumar - names shortened for privacy reasons). If you’re not part of their inner circle—typically people they've previously worked with—you’re treated as an outsider, regardless of your skills, performance, or dedication. Team calls can often be uncomfortable, especially if you’re not aligned with Skumar. He has made inappropriate and unprofessional remarks, including saying things like “I have a second face,” which creates an environment of fear and mistrust. He also expects employees to work as if it’s their own family business—an unrealistic and unfair expectation considering the lack of recognition or support.

Pros

Most associate to scientist-level team members across the R&D organization are fantastic to work with. Direct managers are typically great to work with as well (some misses as with any organization). Quality of science and business development in some parts of the organization is great.

Cons

Senior management overall is oblivious to what actually drives growth and efficiency in this sort of organization with an overemphasis on managerial and administrative tasks that heavily detract from activities that drive genuine business growth and success. Leadership is also often incompetent in terms of pipeline decision-making and support for workforce growth. Criticism is constantly met with redirection.
