Work experience, exposure to global industry standards.

Cons

Can be toxic No clear career path Appraisals can be subjective and depends a lot on your line managers opinion of you, how much he/she likes you as well as how you and your work ethics are perceived by other managers. It's all based on perception. Hence you can pretend your way up the ladder.

Patent team is quite closed and disconnected from the rest of the organization. Additionally, if your style doesn't resemble the long-term management, you will likely not be favored and have limited access to the exciting work, obtain no real recognition, resulting in limited career growth.
