Pros

Company Car, Sick Days, 401K

Cons

Job security. Everyone I know that works for BAT is petrified that they will wake up and be told they have been cut Culture is BAD! They only care about their investors! Payscale is exponentially lower than the industry scale The workload is unattainable. Unless you work 12-hour days every day there is no way to even come close to meeting the company's expectations Bad internal communication, which causes TM's to get yelled at on a daily basis by frustrated retailers. The bonus is based on inaccurate reports and their ever-changing metric scale. Unethical to their employees and their retailers. They are constantly taking things away and adding more hoops to jump through.

Pros

Great coworkers in the legacy Reynolds family.

Cons

If you notice the latest ratings have been very low for Reynolds American. Then BAT tried to make these reviews go away by moving the Reynolds job postings over to the BAT Glassdoor where the rating is much higher (because other regions are treated much better than the US team). If you want the honest reviews go to the Reynolds American original Glassdoor site. This is just one more example of how BAT is ignoring feedback from their US employees and giving lip service to any new or potential employees about how awesome they are to work for.

BAT is bad business

Pros

Pay, Car, 401k, Some Co-Workers

Cons

Be prepared to fall in line and know that the loyalty you show will only buy you some time. Be prepared to drink the kool aid because your input will not be valued as it will die with your direct report. Also, the organization uses spies to micro manage everything you do. The job is only as hard as what you make of it. Just be prepared to be a yes person and be able to defend your performance because everything from selling programs to products is forced and not nurtured causing friction between your boss and the retailer. The retail environment will begin (if it has not already) to catch on to the one sided relationship focus BAT has for everything and start to push back. I really empathize with those who are still putting up the good fight for a lost cause due to the same ole rigor moral of the executives beloved shell game of shareholder magic.
