Pros

I would say the only Pro about this office is that if you know how to deal with the management in BDO, you will know how to deal with anyone else through your career.

Cons

Management and the managing partner need to know how to run a business. Managing partner uses words that shouldn’t be used in any firm. Other partners might express that they are bored of public audit in front of the staff and the new interns, and that they want to start their own business in another field. Management open door policy is not working, because management is always giving excuses that they are doing their best and it’s the nature of the business. Managers should work on their role as a manager, we had one manager tell us, my job here is to get clients to get promoted to the next level, not to work on an actual audits. Also, married couple should meet only at home not in the office. Managers also use words with staff that shouldnt be used. As some comments said above training is non-existent. Client base is not the best, they pick clients for money. You can do your research online and see the client they got fired from recently.

Pros

Excellent benefits. Flex time. Ability to work from home. On the client service side, opportunities to advance. Everyone I have met has been very nice and helpful.

Cons

SS&G joined forces with BDO 1/1/2015. On the CORE (HR, IT, Marketing, Internal Accounting) side, most employees are 'silo-ed' in that they do one thing and ONLY one thing. When it was SS&G, the Home Office group worked as a team and nearly everyone could help almost anyone. BDO is huge so you are no longer a name, you are a number. CPE courses for professional staff are mandated and the object of the game is to pass, not learn. When taking the exams, employees are only told the score and never know which answers were correct and which were incorrect. Perhaps if I had wanted to work for a large company, this would be a good experience. I always wanted small - manageable - a place where I know that what I do matters and makes an impact.
