Low risk strategy but stable in the market.

Relative stability of the bank compared to other institutions, especially the american investment banks.The vacation package is also quite good with 24 days in a year. Although BNP is relatively risk averse and does not boast huge profits in its investment banking activities, the bank is backed by its retail business and offers more stability than its competitors.

Cons

It is somewhat difficult to advance since the employee turnover could be slow. Also, there are not many opportunities to rotate within the organization, not just geographically, but within the individual offices. In comparison, other banks offer rotational programs and oppotunities to transfer to international offices.

Excellent benefit package and decent compensation. Many opportunities for employee education.

Cons

If you're not French, forget about any real career path. Ugly and demoralizing work space (at least for some groups).

European culture, work-life balance, conservative risk management which is proving to be a great upside in this market, invests in employee development, excellent benefits package, management is generally understanding and pleasant to work for as the company culture does not embrace the cutthroat approach of firms like Bear

Cons

Overly conservative to the point of beaurocratic, primary decision-making is with the Paris headquarters, underinvestment in the US, compensation has a lot of room for improvement, compensation also varies greatly among departments which leaves many employees disgruntled, there is some face time in certain departments
