Pros

The SAMS health insurance is the biggest advantage and having BNPP on your CV looks good. However, it is not worth it.

Cons

1 - Salary: The salaries are terrible and the "raises" are a joke. You get the same raise as everyone else (as well as bonus), even though your evaluation of the year was better. 2 - Management: Your line manager does not care about you and your Team Leader just replies to e-mails all day and barely knows what you are actually doing. Furthermore, you only get promotions if you butter you TL up (e.g. people can ask for mobility after 2 years; however some friends of the TL get it without even a year...). 3 - Transparency: It does not matter what position you would like to work in the future, you will not get it unless you are friends with the TL. Positions are filled internally, without even being officially open. People whose quality of work is debatable get ahead at all times. 4 - HR department: Unfortunate cases like an employee having to take tranquilizers just to go to work, due to the pressure and aggressiveness of the TL, do not matter to the HR department. They barely reply to your e-mails and are heavily biased towards the management. 5 - Illegal practices: Some employees have been asked to shorten their lunch break to 3omin. That's illegal and goes against the Portuguese Labour Law. 6 - IT systems: Computers are from the early 2000s and the systems are from the 90s. 7 - Career Development: Non-existant. You will not grow here.

Pros

Employees are kind and good-willed, nice benefits, work/life balance valued at the highest levels, ability to move between teams, employees are open to collaborating and breaking silos.

Cons

Majority of senior employees are French who befriend and promote their own type, high attrition among non-French employees goes unaddressed, teams are repeatedly reorganized, poor tech all-around, a lot of red tape and risk aversion, many key decisions made in Paris with little coordination elsewhere.

Pros

There's not much to be said on the pros side. Spend 2 or 3 years at most for the experience, then leave asap for better pastures!

Cons

The main office of BNP in France manage other offices around the world like France used to manage its colonies, pure exploitations. They bring back most of the profits back to France where they distribute most of it in bonuses to the same people year after year. They offer low salaries, and bonuses are almost inexistant for back office employees. They will give a prorate bonus in the first year, but forget about getting on in subsequent years. Common practice is to find bogus excuses, and only high management gets a decent percentage, and the lack of employees is putting a lot of pressure on management. Subsequently, the good employees leave and regional management is left with underperformers that can't be fired since they are scarred the main office won't approve the replacement. The mismanagement will lead to fraud or major mistakes since there's not enough employees left in the back office to oversee everything.
