      Pros

      Bain attracts great people, working in an environment with such people is challenging and very rewarding. Not only bright and brilliant but also people who are fun to hang out with. I believe Bain has been rated the number one place to work for in the management consultancy industry, which is probably largely due to the fact that you enjoy your time working with your colleagues. The quality of the client base and the quality of the projects are of course two other important reasons to join Bain.

      Cons

      Long and non-flexible hours. As with all consultant work your role is over when it's time for implementation.

      Great way to start a career

      Pros

      Tremendous learning opportunitites and really smart people to work with. You get to work on some of the most difficult business problems at significant clients and you get interaction with senior management at clients - people you would not get to work with at an early career stage outside the strategy consulting world. The environemtn is almost an apprenticeship - you get a tremendous amount of learning and coaching from those above you - if you are lucky to work with a good consultant/manager/partner you elarn a tremendous amount.

      Cons

      There really is little work/balance in the job. You are putting in tremendous amounts of work in order to get rewards (better jobs and income) down the road.
