      Pros

      Ambitious, "no-jerk" culture, decent pay Barcap has got decent strength across the board. Don't do business just to be fashionable, but aggressive to be a serious player.

      Cons

      Office politics. Promotion and appraisal system seriously flawed. I've met people that were literally stupid, but got promoted. Shocking and demotivating. Should also focus more on internal talent rather then 'just' poach people from other banks.

      There is no place worse than Barclays Capital.

      Pros

      Barclays is a place where junior people have opportunity to make big decisions. They let many young, relatively inexperienced people manage big teams.

      Cons

      This place is very poorly managed. There is no communication, no feedback, no career development, and no teamwork. They let very inexperienced people be in charge and there is a lot of delegation and not a lot of work in the mid and low level management.
