Tough road ahead

Pros

Barracuda has some great people working for the company, but unfortunately they are all leaving. There's a lot of freedom for a sales role, however that could be part of the reason the company is where it is at the moment.

Cons

Barracuda got fat and happy with its cash cow products, and instead of continuing to invest in them, the company expanded its portfolio by trying to break into markets where the only way to break in is by coming in at rock bottom pricing. During that time, its cash cow products fell behind from a technology perspective and is now trying to play catch up. With the company stock plummeting 65% in the last few months, there has been job consolidation and purse strings tightened to try and get by. The overwhelming consensus is Barracuda is positioning itself to get bought out. The company pays considerably less than the industry standard, however that was previously offset by a strong company culture. Now that the morale is at an all-time low, there's not much left to desire.

Pros

Great place for first timers entering technology and if you like a frat house scene. If you like meeting new people this place is great because the turnover is ridiculously high. If you are a person motivated by alcohol and have questionable morals again a good place to work. Kudos to Barracuda for taking folks off the street and offering them a technology type career.

Cons

Unfortunately cons out weigh the pros. And there is not enough characters allotted to provide all of them. Like most of the cons notes in other reviews pay is biggest and saddest of them all. They just choose to opt out of competitive pay. Allowing tenured and successful reps, engineers and PMs to leave while keeping and promoting the unqualified and inexperienced. They have atonement type moments where they try to makeup the low pay with a contest but it usually has an unattainable goal. Inconsistent pay is also a standard here. Amazing how the pay structure has changed along with restructuring of sales roles. New hire training is awful and you just feel bad for new reps. Seeing them trying to drink from a fire hose for a good 30-60 days. Too much is expected with knowing 14-16 products. "It's not my job"mentality is common amongst all departments. Makes an individual's job really hard as they can't past tasks or get help. And if you do find someone to help expect it to be half a$$ed. Negativity and complaining run at all time highs here in majority of departments. Amazing that work actually gets done. No accountability with managers makes it hard to respect some them not alone be managed by them. Expectation that we all want to live, eat and sleep Barracuda. The minimal pay doesn't dare equate for one to submit themselves whole to Barracuda.

Absolutely Awful

Pros

The only remotely good thing about this company is the free spinach wraps for lunch.

Cons

The management operates on intimidation instead of incentive. Most importantly the training provided at Barracuda Networks is terrible. They give you a binder that is supposed to teach you how to operate their products and interact with customers. Unfortunately, the person writing it apparently did not put much effort into it. The formal training occupies about 2 weeks and all the final tests after training are long answer written format. Thus the person grading can be as subjective as needed when it comes time to promote. This company will set you up for failure. I was there one week and resigned because of threats from the training/hiring manager after struggling to pass their policies and procedures test. I can only assume how crappy of a company it would be to work for if they are already threating a trainee over simple policies and procedures after only one week.
