Pros

- Great people working there. - Some of the smartest in the business. - You get to drink on the job after hours. - You gain invaluable knowledge that will get you paid much more some where else.

Cons

- Management is full of incompetent people. - They hire by the dozen and keep one or two star players. - They do NOT value star players as their philosophy is that they can always find someone else. - They use the recession to under pay people and keep them there. - They make you feel like you're not worth anything so you don't job hunt. - Their products are below par and they want to get into the enterprise level(good luck w/ that). - When you work here other companies don't consider you as enterprise level. - No work/life balance. - C level executives and directors belittle you unless you're part of the "old boys" club. - They hire best friends of executives and it doesn't matter what type of experience you have, you could have even worked at Red Lobster and still work at Barracuda as long as you are buddies with the execs. - The most simple benefits the can't even provide you with such as a cell phone. - They will find anyway to not pay you. - No company functions even though they were 30% growth over the recession. - No recognition for jobs well done. - HR director is especially rude when you tell her that you are leaving for greener pastures. - CEO tells you he rewards loyalty but it's his way of dangling the carrot in front of your face for the 60% of market pay for the position you're getting. - If you aren't "fashionable" or "cool" you get out casted like its junior high. - A reward for a good job means you get to cut in line for burgers at the company picnic. - People are leaving that company by the dozen to go to websense and other companies. - They bribe you every year to take a survey to win a free t.v. so that they can give a fake presence about them being one of the best places to work at. - I could go on but it would just make me more angry....

Pros

"a pre-IPO company" which seems to suggest a promising career path

Cons

Managers only want to keep their position, they are not open to suggestions and do not accept "The Emperor's New Clothes" kind of true words. HR is horrible, after I told her I would jump to another company, she turned out very angry and told me that I was not loyalty to the company. Actually it is so funny to me: if I can get 40% salary increase in another company that doing a different field from what I was doing in barracuda, doesn't it mean I was seriously under-paid since I was join? I am really happy I left this mean company. Not worth to stay at all. They only want to squeeze you as much as possible.

One of the worst places I've ever worked

Pros

There are actually very few pros to list for this company as far as I'm concerned... the location was decent (a fairly short commute for me), the atmosphere was pretty laid back (at least in some groups). I think most of the actual workers got along well. Their new location was far better to work at than their prev one (their orig location had to be seen to be believed).

Cons

Wow... this was truly one of the worst places I have ever worked! The paychecks were sometimes late, the pay rate was about 33% off my usual rate, but I had to get a job (anywhere) at the time. The benefits were ridiculous... stingy coverage for the employee, but only after a waiting period- and your family wasn't even automatically covered (at least when I was there). Occasionally the CEO would stop by our group and verbally chastise other group employees in front of our entire group... not very professional for a CEO who really should know better. And certainly not a very good example for other execs or group managers.
