Pros

Good group of colleagues and network developed through this experience

Cons

Management led through intimidation and was only focused on corporate politics, not on the organization's success.

Pros

Very good work life balance on the whole for a consulting firm. Junior colleagues have the ability to make a significant contribution very early on.

Cons

While BearingPoint has an innovation process, sometimes great ideas become captives of long decision making timeframes, particularly when the majority of the partnership needs to be convinced of the merits of an idea. Management doesn't always make the best use of the talent available to them. Ability for cross-border engagements not as prevalent as one might expect, as a result of "fiefdom" like thinking amongst parts of the partnership.

Pros

Talented people with a large range of backgrounds and ages A wide range of industries and products to be involved with Fairly good benefit packages Nice office

Cons

Left on the bench for the vast majority of the time (Up to a period of 4-5 months!) as the firm seemed to be unable to gain more work from clients. Understand that this might have been changed since with “pro-bono” placements on projects, but this was an unacceptable situation which was given little attention by management. I felt completely undermined by this problem - there was no project rotation to compensate for excessive bench time which was reflected in performance. A wasted year. Very glad to have moved on to more interesting and difficult work with a better-managed employer. Project work was also rather dry. More interesting consulting projects to be found elsewhere.

BearingPoint Response

We’re sorry to hear that your experience of working with us wasn’t as you expected. BearingPoint is committed to providing its consultants with the best experience it can, and we endeavour to ensure each project is staffed with consultants with the right skills and experience to not only ensure a successful project, but also to ensure the level of experience for our consultants is at its highest – meeting their personal and professional development needs. It is unfortunate that you feel you did not experience the best consulting has to offer at BearingPoint, however, the nature of the industry often means there are times where staff are required to be on the bench between projects. During these periods BearingPoint ensures all consultants have the opportunity to support various business development and pro-bono activities, as well as take advantage of the wide array of learning and development opportunities that are on offer. It is important for us to maintain a good working environment for all of our employees and we strongly encourage staff to raise any issues with their Manager or HR team so they can be resolved as soon they emerge. It’s critical that we continue to be the best employer we can so your comments and feedback are gratefully received.
