Pros

As a hole BearingPoint is an excellent company to work for. They are understanding of the work / life balance and they encourage their employees to take care of themselves. They are not much of an up or out consultancy. Since it is not a partnership, they promote people based on merit if there is space in the leadership group for the promotion. As for staffing, they are excellent about finding engagements for people that were on a team that is no longer together, whether the contract was over or the contract was lost. They prefer to staff current employees prior to looking outside the company for talent.

Cons

In solutions it is hard to see a clear line of determining where work will come from. I know there is a perceived need to build a network, but when you are not client facing, as is the solutions group, it is hard to determine when and where you will be able to generate work from. With that in mind, it is difficult to try and drum up "new" business and secure forward progression on your career path. I cannot say that this is an issue for the company as a whole, but I would say that it is present throughout the Solutions group.

Pros

Very strong Public Services business has unusually good stability and work life balance. I have been very proud to serve BE for the past eight years. We have excellent employees and our clients fanatically support us. On the ground things are positive and the PS practice continues to win work despite the Chapter 11 filing.

Cons

Actions at the Corporate level have resulted in a steady decline of the company resulting now in its dissolution. I have been proud to serve BE for 8 years but I look forward to our acquisition by another tier 1 consulting firm. We have had a cloud hanging over us for years with the SEC investigations, filling delays, and then issues surrounding the structure of our corporate debt.

Pros

The people are down-to-earth, intelligent, and dedicated. In turn BearingPoint is a good place to buikd a strong consulting network. When good opportunties come along that you're well positioned for you can have great leadership opportunities and gain phenomenal business experience.

Cons

Historically, any engagement is a good engagement for BearingPoint even if it is not profitable. The distinction between management and technology consulting is becoming blurred. Managing your career path the way you would like to is extremeily difficult below the Senior Manager level.
