Pros

The training opportunities and people I work with are the best reasons. We have plenty of work socials as well. The per diem for travel days and 4 weeks vacation beat industry jobs. My direct management and managing director have been great at making sure the good people on the team stay happy.

Cons

One of the downsides of most consulting industry jobs are being away from home and your family for three nights per week. BearingPoint has not have much of a bonus program in the three years that I have been here. There is also some instability of the company's future with everyone jumping ship.

Pros

If you are starting your career, this is a great place to work. It opens many doors for you and allows you to build a vast network. You will get exposure to multiple companies and technologies as opposed to just one company (if you are not in the consulting realm).

Cons

One of the major downsides of working at BearingPoint is consistency. You are obviously going to get different people to work with from project to project. But also it depends on who your managers are for your performance review. If you have a bad manager then you will not get good compensation, but if you have a good manager then you will. I know of some who are promoted every cycle, while others it takes a year or two to get one promotion.

Pros

It's one of the Big-4, therefore you can get a strong project portfolio, learn the internal culture of the Fortune-500 companies and overall industry landscape very quickly. Such experience does open many doors.

Cons

The company just keeps going downhill, and good people have left or are about to leave. BE will be in red at least another year, and likely longer. The utilization metrics drive the overall employment status and process; even if you get on decent project, there is no brand support to your work. Resource realization is poor; senior roles run at 1/3 of the listed hourly rate, and the projects more and more are staff augmentation, with undefined scope and no added value. The remaining leadership is biased and subjective; overall morale is low.
