Pros

Working for a global recognizable company with a true feeling of what consulting is like; Ability to get vast experience in a short amount of time (depends on project and group);

Cons

Company Stability; Depends on the location of the group that you're in, you can get a lot of work or nothing at all; Highly political and hierarchical; Communications/Training and what really happens are two different things; Not consistent throughout the company with performance reviews and promotions/compensation; Not enough information sharing and very siloed organization; Senior Leadership (C-level) direction and objectives, more tactical than strategic; only for the short term.

Pros

As one of the big 4(maybe 5, or.... 6? whatever) consulting firms, it has great reputation and is a good place to start your career. The campus talk was excellent which absorbed me a lot to consider Bearing Point as the first step in my career path. It has good connection with the local government and state-owned companies, and got a lot of projects from them with high benefit. If you can show your benefit to Bearing Point, then your promotion will be fairly fast. Also, the connection between Bearing Point and Yale Management School is quite tight which means you will have the opportunity to learn in the top B-school, although only 1 week~

Cons

The salary is really NOT competitive comparing with other competitors such as IBM~ Maybe 20% lower comparing with IBM, but better than that of Accenture. Oh Accenture, what a shame on you~ It had the best Oracle ERP team in China - I mean: It had...... Now a lot of experienced ERP consultants in Bearing Point have gone to its competitors, and it becomes to lose its high quality customers. To be worth, it was deleted from the list on the big board, and each customer asks for a description. Personally, I do not know where this ship will sail to.

Pros

BearingPoint is a great place to gain exposure to the consulting industry. Specifically the Public Services sector is a great place for a new or experienced consultant to make a direct impact by working with a government client (federal, state or local) to help them solve one of their many issues. Most of the issues we help to resolve with our clients are usually related to technology, management, finance, accounting, or operations. As a BE consultant, you will also have a chance to leverage the knowledge of thousands of other consultants within your sector. I would also like to say that salaries and benefits are pretty competitive for the industry.

Cons

Currently the company is going through financial tough times because of accounting problems that took place a few years ago. Because of these problems, most of the shareholder equity has been wiped out. Though this really does not effect most of the consultants on a direct basis (unless you own BE stock), it does lower the morale a little. Also, any pending action taken to resolve these equity, finance, and accounting issues may have a potential negative effect on the company and its people. Despite these issues, I would say that BE is a great place to work. We just have to wait out the storm for a little while.
