Pros

- junior hires given good load of responsibilities - salary and bonuses are good - free snacks (better than microsoft, worse than google) - satisfied customers (having worked at other companies, the high level of customer satisfaction is abnormal and deeply rewarding). - new york city is much more fun than san francisco, boston, or seattle, but that's just my opinion ;).

Cons

- no offices - time not as flexible as other tech companies - expected to be on call after hours. for IT/networking/systems people this may be normal, but as a software engineer, I was not used to this. - culture of kissing up to higher levels (worse than other tech companies, but better than most non-tech corporate environments). many superficial efforts are made to combat this, but it is still present - no company cafeteria leads most people to eat at their desks rather than with co-workers - no white boards (maybe that's a pro for some people).

Pros

Line on the resume Good pay, but if you count all the hours you really work, it's less impressive The building is really cool - multicolored glass, transparency, lots of open space Events scheduled for interns Flexible work hours

Cons

Work is not really challenging. Lots of repetitive work. Need to fill out programmer's notes every day. If you're a programmer and you hope to learn more about finance by working here... it won't happen. If you're an intern, you cannot bill more than 40 hrs per week. Almost everybody works more, but you won't be paid for overtime. Free food and drinks are always there, but if you're health conscious, most of it won't be of much benefit to you. IB - "Instant Bloomberg" - instant messaging for Bloomberg employees - can get in the way of work. Old technology.

Pros

free snacks and soft drinks pay is good company really pays a lot of attention on internship program people working there are smart

Cons

Technology is amazingly OLD. Do you konw comdb? Managers don't care your feelings as long as you get the work done regardless how you achieved that. For an intern, whether you can get a fulltime job offer is independent on how your work was during summer even if you work hard and your mentor and manager like you.
