Pros

- High starting salary for a fresh graduate - Friendly and kind colleagues - Great benefits (medical, well-being, corporate discounts, the famous pantry) - Clock-in at 8am, clock out at 6pm, no overtime expected - Good brand reputation - Appreciate the work of Bloomberg Philanthropies

Cons

(I state facts and personal experiences) 1) Competitiveness You are comparing yourself against your peers based on peer average as the benchmark, i.e. there will be an 'underperformer' even when there're only two people. TLs and managers will talk like it's very serious when you're 1% behind a peer average. There's a dashboard of 8 KPIs. When you beat all of them, they'll talk about something else, you're never good enough. I was a high performer but if they don't like you, they don't like you. 2) Career path Your day-to-day is 100% focusing on Bloomberg solutions (which make sense), but the disadvantage is that you don't learn about how the actual finance industry works. Although you can try to ask questions during client visits, they don't tell you much insights because your work don't have much in common, you're just another vendor to them. In Bloomberg, talking about external pathways or other firms are like mentioning Voldemort. So don't expect any genuine career advice from your seniors. Not to mention the managers are very out-of-touch that they think Bloomberg is the best company in the world, you're the stupid one if you look for an exit. Now imagine a candidate with 5 years of experience in Bloomberg, where does he/she sit in the job market? Where do you he/she will go? If you think finance - what are the skills match? 3) Micromanagement Bloomberg is notorious for its micromanagement globally. It's the worst part of the job, look up other reviews and do your own research. It's just not for me. Considering most of the colleagues are elite/high-caliber students, I don't think anyone will like it. But that's part of the culture. Therefore I chose to leave.

Pros

Coworkers are great, work overall is pretty interesting. Compensation and benefits are solid

Cons

feels like a big company and processes prevent you from shipping fast if that’s important
