Pros

Pantry Summer Party Quiet Rooms 401K Benefits Great on you resume Met and made a lot of good friends

Cons

Management will do anything to stay relevant and keep their jobs. Subjective Reviews Favoritism No accountability I've seen employees with unethical practices be promoted Hard focus on performance matrix that is not relevant at all, and becomes more difficult as top performers set higher benchmarks and expectations for others, essentially the bar is perpetually set higher, until you are worked to death, pushing people out that once were considered the best at what they do. Poor salaries Healthcare plan was good, but not anymore HR works for the company to ensure that there are no lawsuits, and will threaten you if you open your mouth and force you to confront your manager, who between warnings can easily devise a plan to make your life a living hell, within the parameters of course. Your closest colleagues will be chosen at random to become a team leader, the weak minded ones will immediately start drinking the cool aid. TL candidates beware.

A wild ride

Pros

Fantastic benefits, a core fully grounded in philanthropy and community development, a truly challenging work environment

Cons

Loyalty at Bloomberg, in my opinion, is equated with tenure rather than merit. Organic growth is encouraged but perhaps to a fault where tenured managers are cycled in to positions where they lack the ability to succeed and can, as a by product seriously damage morale. Historically unprecedented RIF's have created a protectionist environment, breeding a culture of escalation, eroding the sense of team and partnership - I certainly work harder when pushing towards a common goal rather than waiting to step on the next land mine.
