Cons

Senior Leadership is home grown and has fallen behind in how the outside world is changing. They say they want new fresh bold talent and then reprimand and "rate" people poorly who try new things and make mistakes. Full time means early mornings, evenings and weekends - limited respect for people with families. Be ready to be committed to the company 24-hours a day and if you take a vacation day be prepared to work during that time too if needed. If you have a personal commitment let your family and friends know they should be prepared for cancellations and being late. The company knows how to execute fast but it's not overly strategic or thoughtful at times. Leadership is extremely slow or unequipped in making high quality decisions and incredibly poor at change management. Causes an emotional roller coaster for many employees. A gossip filled environment with plenty of favoritism and uncertainty.

Pros

There are too many pros at Bloomberg to name (depending on if you like the same things that I do - Open office plan: get to converse easily with managers, jump on board interesting projects, and provide insight when you overhear conversations where people are confused - Global workforce and global opportunities: Large projects can have you working with people on all 6 inhabited continents, flying there to do business, or transferring to a different country on an exchange program - Technology, Money, and News: Bloomberg is racing other companies to define the future of finance, and the media industry. These are daunting tasks but can be exciting, especially given the companies heft and ability to make waves - Great benefits: Medical, Vacation, etc - Summer Party: Need to experience it to understand

Cons

Bloomberg's work-life balance isn't for all. The lengthy vacation package comes, for many, with hours on end in the office, and a virtual 24 hour "on call" expectation, depending on your role and department.
