Pros

You get to work at a beautiful office (no matter where in the world you work) all the water, tea, coffee and chips you can eat.--if that is important to you-- Compared to other cable TV companies benefits package and perks are attractive. Probably one of the few companies left that will pay for first class accommodations if you have to travel for business. Plenty of internal professional development courses through Bloomberg University (manager approved, of course). Company's social responsibility is outstanding. You have the opportunity to attend many exclusive social events. Lavish annual company-wide picnic in the NY area and Brazil. If you embrace change in all fronts, you will adapt well to the company culture.

Cons

Bloomberg is known for their low salaries. You are expected to work extra long hours with no overtime. All software is developed in-house, for the most part you don't get to use industry standard tools. Bloomberg TV once had a vision to become the leader in financial news worldwide. Just as the company was establishing itself to reach that goal, new management was brought in, the company footprint was reduced to (in their own words) the "English-only" speaking world, and to program television content over radio. BTV's future is uncertain.

Pros

High degree of personal ownership in projects means that if you're on a solid team you can contribute almost immediately

Cons

Serious issues with reinventing the wheel, neglecting useful open-source alternatives, and in many places completely ignoring proper software development practices like continuous integration, unit testing, integration testing, etc. Proprietary everything means your skills are largely not transferable.

Pros

Vibrant culture and dynamic working environment makes this company a brilliant place for young, entrepreneurial individuals.

Cons

Fast pace environment where there is a need to multi-task and be on your feet at all times, not everyone can adapt to this pulse.
