Pros

Their buildings are beautifully decorated Some really nice people who have been trained to be complacent Their philanthropy and volunteer events

Cons

The atmosphere is toxic. Every team is run differently. Some of the most incompetent leaders who could care less about their teams. Lifetime employees who are so arrogant and have no Perspective outside of Bloomberg. Many employees and leaders with decades there with no degrees and they devalue newer employees with experience and degrees. They have snacks just to deflect from the horrid work conditions.

Pros

An AMEX with unlimited spend on business trips - which they will make you do a lot of unless you are on the helpdesk or get one of the coveted London based roles which are like gold dust

Cons

No career development No learning - unless you consider fixing BBG chat a skill set Micro Management on steroids - the time you walk in and leave the office will be on your internal profile for the world to see and they will make sure you’re aware you were 1 min late to work when you swiped in at 8:01 Ridiculous Travel expectations (3 days every week) to clients who really don’t want to see you because you already fixed their BBG chat last week If you refuse the travel then you are moved to a sub par role in a non exciting area of their business, typically the help desk, but fear not - Many of the help questions are about turning on/off sound alerts on BBG chat so you will be well equipped to help customers

Pros

Extensive and rigorous financial markets and Bloomberg product training in the first few months. Get to do a lot of problem solving and customer service. Michael Bloomberg seems like a great guy.

Cons

Notorious for extreme micromanagement. Structure creates a situation where direct managers are God. Famous for being a "Meritocracy", but what they actually mean is "Monoculture". They promote on the basis of your fit which supposedly includes performance, but more accurately, cultural fit. Cultural fit largely means being liked by your manager. If you are the type of person who can drink the Koolaid, do as your told without question, tow the party line, brown nose etc. You can be Moulded into a Bloombot and fit right in. However if you are an independent thinker, creative, risk-taking, and god forbid; a bit eccentric. You will probably struggle (not to say you can't succeed. It just makes it much much harder).
