Pros

Free breakfast, free fruit, perkbox and other bonuses like discount on travel through Booking.com, good salary. It's a good place to work if you're new to development and are looking for a company to invest in you while you grow. Everyone is pleasant and it's a very inclusive work environment.

Cons

Currently moving from an old and difficult platform (Java & jQuery) to a micro-service instead (JS & React). Took literally over a month to get set up with the Java platform as absolutely no one knew how to set up a new machine. I was hired as a front-end JS/React developer and placed straight into a team that works on the Java platform... Now there's talk that the new platform (JS/React) is slower than the old Java platform and if the engineers can't fix it in the coming weeks the project will be pulled, effectively wasting the last couple of years work on it.

Hi and thanks for the feedback. We are not pulling the new platform at all. The new platform is a lot faster than the old one, I would suggest you reach out to the Senior Product Owner or Engineering Manager leading that area to get more details on the recent work. More broadly from a technology re-platforming perspective, we are planning to do this across the entire estate, however we are doing this incrementally rather than big bang. This maybe where there have been crossed wires about the new web platform. Specifically we will roll out additional new components and then monitor until we are confident that the component is performing in the test markets, once it does we move onto the next component and market. In terms of setup on the Java platform, we are aware that the old system takes time to setup, the new platform takes less than a day to get up and running. If you are having trouble with the old platform please reach out to some Engineers in Booking Experience for help or ask your manager to get it sorted. From a team and technology perspective, if you are unhappy with your team please speak to your line manager, Engineering Manager for your Product Group or Head of. I am sure we can resolve this concern. Thanks Ryan
