The Project Leader role is very challenging as you're at the crux of the organization, managing both down (new post-BA and post-MBA contributors) and up (the partners who sold the case).

Cons

Long hours are expected as are (depending on the office & your area of expertise) long travel commitments. It can also be depressing to work exclusively with mature companies that are trying to hold on to old advantages, wring more revenue out of existing clients, or just decline slower.

- Strong meritocracy and upward mobility - Culture of learning and mentoring culture - Focus on teaming/collaboration - Accessibility of the firm's best people - you can speak with whomever in the firm and people bend over backwards to help each other out at all levels - Global experiences more accessible and available to all employees - Support for full-time MBA programs

Cons

- Work/life balance can be tough without a doubt given the working hours, pressures, and travel - firm has gotten a better handle on this over time w/ PTO initiative - Firm's rapid growth has outpaced competition, but also put aggressive bogeys on Partners (which in turn made pressures and workload higher for everyone) and made retaining the smaller firm culture a challenge
