Pros

Great post-business school option if you're not yet sure what industry you'd like to work in. Allows you to see a variety of business situations to help you understand business better and ultimately find what you'd like to do long-term.

Cons

Travel can be grueling. Rarely do you receive positive feedback or are made to feel good about what you've accomplished on a case. Leadership skills are very poor.

Pros

Fantastic professional opportunities, excellent corporate brand name. Creates access post-BCG to other top companies. BCG pays exceedingly well, and the benefits are fantastic (e.g., $5 medical co-pays, 3 months of maternity leave, etc). You'll get to work with some incredibly bright and talent people.

Cons

~ Crazy hours (60 hours are average, 80 is common, and 100 is not unheard of...), resulting in poor work-life balance ~ Occasionally unrealistic expectations of your managers ~ Promotion criteria gets increasingly hazy as you reach higher levels in the company ~ Feedback poorly given, and occasionally very poor alignment of how you're doing with what you're hearing (i.e., reviews can be a surprise)

Pros

Exposure to smart people and getting to see how things work "at the top" of corporate America. A decent first job for the breadth of experience you get.

Cons

A lot of the work you do is pretty meaningless, the analysis is shallow, and at the end of the day you're paid for the "appearance of an answer" rather than a real answer
