Pros

Incredibly smart people, passionate about making a difference with its clients. The career development process is helpful in letting you identify your strengths and weaknesses. You get formal feedback on your projectson ~3 month basis and then your career development councelor aggregates feedback and provides you insight on your promotion timing every six months Benefits are second to none (fully paid health insurance), profit-sharing, end of year bonus, etc. Oppportunity for international experience. It is not mandatory but the option exists to work on projects in other markets either from BCG offices abroad or from your own US office. z

Cons

Volatility of hours. Some weeks you work forty hours, other weeks you work 70. Total hours. A lot of people will say that the work live balance is good, and I think it is if you are looking at the job compared to other consulting firms. I have friends at other firms that put in a lot more time than I do (it depends on the BCG office you are in however). If you compare this job to brand management or other general management jobs I think the hours would be less. You comp might not be as nice though Some (not all) of the senior partners can be a bit arrogant and difficult to work

Pros

Great post-business school option if you're not yet sure what industry you'd like to work in. Allows you to see a variety of business situations to help you understand business better and ultimately find what you'd like to do long-term.

Cons

Travel can be grueling. Rarely do you receive positive feedback or are made to feel good about what you've accomplished on a case. Leadership skills are very poor.

Pros

BCG provides great learning opportunities (lots of training both online and live sessions, including individual coaching sessions you can sign up for), constant feedback (sometimes too much). You will also be working with very smart and motivated people. Fast paced, challenging, mostly intellectually stimulating work. Difficult to get bored. Generally nice, low key people.

Cons

tough work, challenging lifestyle, lots of travel. Even though everyone thinks that they are ready for the challenge, it can wear on you after a while. Also you will constantly feel scrutinized, because of the constant feedback and plotting of your performance on a matrix vs other consultants. Everyone strives to overdeliver
