Pros

BCG is one of the best companies I have ever worked at (and probably will be over the course of my career!). The company has strong values that they truly live everyday in terms of doing the right thing for their clients and people. The people are smart yet humble, and truly care about each other. The culture is inclusive, fun and global. They offer amazing, best-in-class benefits and mobility options.

Cons

While BCG has very competitive and generous salaries for consulting staff, they do not pay well for non-client facing roles such as HR, recruiting, marketing, finance, etc. There is a significant gap here in terms of years of experience for roles they are hiring for and what they are willing to pay; which often gets outweighed by the amazing benefits and flexibility they offer (especially by women who have or are trying to have a family).

Pros

-The people here are absolutely fantastic -The firm invests in training for employees (both formal education and providing workshops) -The firm invests in the office culture -Great physical workspaces -Incredible health insurance (less helpful though if you're young, healthy, and childless)

Cons

If you want to grow your career here you must be on the consulting side. There are limited opportunities to get promoted in general, and for high impact opportunities, they prefer former consultants who want more work-life balance (or they will devote a team of consultants to an internal project). That doesn't leave a lot of opportunities for people wishing to grow their career. If you want a job that handles more scutwork than big impact but provides great work-life balance and benefits you'll be incredibly happy here as a BST employee.

Pros

You can’t beat the benefits. Most of the people are very friendly. Unlimited sick and personal days. 3 weeks vacation, but you may not be allowed to use it when you want to. No waiting period for benefits to be effective. Great office. Lots of free snacks and drinks. Catered lunch once a week.

Cons

Just be aware that if you accept a presentation design position at BCG, it is a production role. You will be booked on projects by 15 minute increments, which unfortunately isn’t how real creative design works. You will also be working on a PC, not a Mac, which is one of the many things that show how behind BCG design is compared to current design standards. Promotions and titles are arbitrary, not based on skills or expertise. Senior level work is no different from entry level.
