Pros

Generally nice hard working people there. Good projects to work on. Reasonably good baseline salary.

Cons

Major changes since Avago merger. Cronyism is a problem among some ethnic groups. Should not be tolerated. Distribution of wealth is very top heavy. Bonuses not very good. Difficult to expand education via seminars or conferences

Pros

Good compensation and benefits. Working with smart experienced people.

Cons

The new profit-is-everything mantra does not seem like it will be a positive for engineers. It is still very early on after acquisition by Avago, so we'll have to see how it plays out. Right now it seems like it will only be great for shareholders. Long work hours. Always in fire-fighting mode, so there isn't any time to learn new skills or even get to lower-priority nice-to-have tasks. There are not many young engineers, hiring is skewed toward more experienced engineers. Lack of new ideas coming into the company.

Pros

Great place to work before the acquisition by Avago. Challenging tasks, great engineers and world class tools. Generally the company was engineering led, producing world class products.

Cons

Strategic direction from the top was lacking or not followed through. The shutdown of the mobile business was not managed well. Signs post acquisition are one of cost, cost, cost. How this translates to our everyday activities is not yet clear, but the support side is clearly going to suffer which has the potential to result in decreased engineering productivity.
