      They use you until they don't need you anymore

      Pros

      Lots of holidays per year (they close 2 weeks during Christmas and these days don't count)

      Cons

      When you are an external PhD student, the health insurance is not as good as for CERN staff They will keep you until they need you and then kick you out without looking back Not a lot of possibilities of staying with a decent contract

      - Great collaborative working environment - Ownership over your projects - Lots of learning support in the form of training courses, classes etc.

      - Nothing comes to mind
