Pros

Strong brand recognition and user growth. Mission-driven product with a real impact on how people design and communicate. HQ offers well-stocked offices and plenty of swag.

Cons

This is my second time working at a SaaS company; I previously worked for an online form software. My experience at Canva makes me want to get out of working in tech altogether. Let’s be honest: I’ve delivered consistently, taken on high-impact projects, solved problems no one else wanted to touch — and did it without burning bridges or asking for credit. But after a while, it’s hard not to notice that the company doesn’t return the favor. Recognition is minimal, raises are predetermined, and promotions are murky at best. I’ve brought serious value to this team, but conversations about growth are vague or postponed, and feedback feels like a box-checking exercise. Decisions are made far above our heads, often with little warning or explanation, and the messaging never quite aligns with the reality on the ground. The workload is intense, and while I can handle it, I shouldn’t have to shoulder this much without meaningful support. The push back to the office feels performative — especially when the best work is clearly getting done remotely. Flexibility is earned, but not granted. Despite being a global company, there's limited internal mobility or investment in long-term career development. Mentorship is informal and inconsistent, and growth conversations tend to be reactive instead of proactive.

Pros

Externally people think you work at a cool place.

Cons

Literally everything else. It's the worst corporate tech culture I've ever experienced. At least in other companies it might be terrible you can learn, grow, and develop - Canva is just brutal mental warfare and most people feel stuck and under utilized. It's really bad. The job market is hard so if it's your only offer take it but if you have options, don't pick Canva.
