Pros

Working for a founder led company has definitely been a new experience, you are well informed on company decisions and everyone is aligned on the company vision and goals. Finally an organisation who wants to make a difference in the world for the right reasons, they put a lot of effort in building their culture (there is a Vibe team) and everyone is really well looked after - flexible working conditions, a well-being allowance, you get to work autonomously and on impactful work. People actually encourage collaboration and working hard is rewarded with playing hard, they don’t hold back on celebrations. There is a generous annual leave policy and free lunches on some days too! Everyone is genuinely nice and want to help but they also care about you doing great work because we have regular growth and impact chats.

Cons

Everything moves very quickly at Canva, so if you’re not someone who enjoys a fast pace then this may not be the place for you. It’s an environment that relies a lot on feedback to get better and sometimes if something isn’t broken, we will try and fix it anyway because it’s an innovation culture and they are always wanting to be and do better but for me, I see this as a good thing so not a con for me.

Pros

- Overflowing with benefits - They try very hard to uphold and maintain a good people culture. Very few companies do this. - Opportunity for travels to Sydney - Very successful business. The company is not going anywhere, it's here to stay.

Cons

- Tricky to advance and get promoted - Sometimes unclear about roles and responsibilities - Hires overqualified applicants for jobs that actually can be done by juniors - During my time, management was unsupportive of QA's integration with the engineering teams
